Our Footprint
We are passionate about developing buildings that respond to the climate emergency, but we practice what we preach by reducing our footprint. We have set a target to halve our carbon emissions by 2030 and, where emissions cannot be reduced, we offset them through various schemes. In 2023 we planted 125 trees and supported the prevention of 43 tonnes of carbon emissions as part of our carbon reduction scheme.

We believe all new projects should be low energy, net zero carbon in use, and built using local sustainable materials. Our mission is to create a sustainable world through innovative and responsible architectural design. The construction industry produces a large proportion of the worlds greenhouse gas emissions. As architects we have a responsibility, and a great opportunity, to reduce them through innovative design methods. We incorporate circular economy principles into our initial design stage to ensure the building reduces its use of virgin materials. In addition to specifying materials with low embodied carbon to minimise the carbon emissions further. Our teams expertise on sustainable design and are always update to date on the latest methods and innovative techniques.

Passivhaus
Passivhaus (or Passive House) is a highly effective energy and comfort standard for new buildings. Passive house buildings use high levels of insulation, fresh air, natural daylight and the sun to create high performing buildings that support wellbeing, all year round. Our team of sustainable architects have designed a range of Passivhaus certified and low-embodied energy homes.
Low Carbon Design
The construction industry produces a large proportion of the worlds greenhouse gas emissions. As architects we have a responsibility, and a great opportunity, to reduce them. Footprint Architects are committed to delivering a net zero future. Our approach to acheive carbon zero is to focus on the building fabric by using materials with low embodied carbon and integrating renewable sources of energy.
Retrofit
Retrofit offers one of the best opportunities to improve the environment in our towns and cities and reduce the carbon footprint of our current buildings. This can be done by improving the performance of a buildings fabric and integrating renewable energy systems. Our architects have worked extensively with existing heritage buildings, adapting them for exciting new uses and maximising their potential. Such as transforming Bobby’s in Bournemouth, a former department store that will offer an experience-led retail, workspace, food and beverage hall, and rooftop dining within a nostalgic aesthetic.
