LUSH Design Office

A Healthy and Modern Office Design Refurbishment

Footprint Architects were appointed by cosmetics brand, LUSH, to design a modern office refurbishment for their DQ3 headquarters at Dolphin Quays, Poole. The brief focused on designing a space to accommodate the brand values and identity of LUSH. This involved producing an office design that would increase productivity, reduce workplace stress and create a comfortable healthy environment for the LUSH employees.

Sustainability

Successfully refurbished an existing building fabric into a thriving office space that is flexible for future use.

Creating Healthy Office Environments

Our team of architects are passionate about creating better spaces for working. We used our expertise in creating healthy work environments in this office refurbishment to create a space this is uplifting and celebrated the brand ethos of LUSH. We created healthy green spaces by adding house plants into various office spaces to foster a connection with the outdoor environment. This not only improves air quality, but plants have the power to reduce stress, anxiety and fatigue. Introducing ergonomic furniture was prioritised to allow employees the flexibility to sit or stand, which helps foster a healthy and more comfortable office environment.

Reducing Employee Stress Through Modern Workplace Design

An important part of the brief for this office refurbishment fit-out was to ensure the design fosters a stress-free work environment. To create such an environment, we utilised our experience in workplace design and understanding of how office design affects employees and productivity. Colour was an easy and inexpensive way to transform spaces during this office fit out and the effect colour has on our productivity and wellbeing shouldn’t be underestimated. Warm tones such as Yellow or Red, increase optimism and alertness. Cool tones like Green or Blue, keep us calm and focused. We paired cooler tones with the green plant spaces used for desk work to create a tranquil environment. Meeting rooms and social kitchen spaces were designed in pastel pinks and reds to liven up the spaces for ideas and creativity. These modern workplace design techniques have helped contribute to a design that promotes employee wellbeing.

Context and Place

Created an office space that is a place of pride for employees who are more committed to LUSHs’ company mission.

Designing Dynamic Office Social Spaces

By focusing on reducing employee stress, and healthy office design the environment gives employees the incentive to work and collaborate freely in the space – this in turn produces positive results towards productivity. The design features an industrial, stripped-out, concrete fabric which allows the client to have dynamic spaces and freedom of movement, collaboration and connectivity across disciplines within the company. With varying staff needs it was important to design an office that allows multiple working styles. We maximised internal office spaces by designing large, open plan working spaces within a flexible network of smaller desk spaces, meeting rooms and communal spaces. Working with the client throughout the entire process ensured that the best quality design was produced to refurbish the space into a successful office space.
